In terracotta you find the magic of matter, a magic that can only begin with fire. As you shape the earth you can only guess what will happen during the firing process. Each time there is a factor of unpredictability, giving terracotta a fascinating sense of mystery; and it is only with the passing of time, the exposure to the changing of seasons and the sedimentation of dust that the enchantment fully takes place. Terracotta is, to me, the highest possible form of matter, because it is the one closest to my emotions.
